International law firm Dorsey & Whitney LLP announced today that Peggy Hunt, a partner in the Firm’s Salt Lake City office and Monica Clark, a partner in the Minneapolis office have been named Co-Chairs of the Bankruptcy & Restructuring Practice Group. Ms. Hunt and Ms. Clark succeed partners Eric Schnabel and Steven Waterman.
Ms. Hunt has worked in the area of bankruptcy and receivership law for over 25 years and is a Fellow in the American College of Bankruptcy. She has also been recognized in Best Lawyers in America, as a Mountain States Super Lawyer, and named to Utah Legal Elite in the area of bankruptcy and creditor-debtor rights law. She serves as a Panel Chapter 7 trustee for the District of Utah, and regularly represents Chapter 11 and 7 trustees and equity receivers. Ms. Hunt also assists distressed companies, creditors and equity holders in all aspects of the workout, restructuring and liquidating process, including in related litigation. She regularly speaks on topics involving bankruptcy and receivership law, serves on the Advisory Board for the American Bankruptcy institute’s Rocky Mountain Conference, and is a Contributing Author for the Collier Bankruptcy Practice Guide. Ms. Hunt currently serves as immediate Past-President of the Utah Chapter of the Federal Bar Association and Chair of the And Justice For All Leadership Committee, as well as actively serving on numerous other professional and civic boards.
Ms. Clark represents financial institutions, creditors, unsecured creditors' committees, and equipment lessors in local and national bankruptcy cases. Her practice also includes bankruptcy appellate representation. Ms. Clark is a former member of the District of Minnesota Bankruptcy Practice Committee.
In addition to her law degree, Ms. Clark has a Master's Degree in English, and while practicing, has taught legal writing at the University of Minnesota Law School. She regularly speaks on bankruptcy issues and is a contributing author to Minnesota CLE's Bankruptcy Practice in Minnesota Deskbook. Ms. Clark is a recipient of Dorsey's Scales of Justice and the Raeder Larson Public Service Award, for her extensive pro bono representation of consumer debtors.
Prior to joining Dorsey, Ms. Clark clerked for the Honorable Robert J. Kressel, United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Minnesota and Bankruptcy Appellate Panel for the Eighth Circuit.
