Evan Everist, a nationally recognized partner in Dorsey’s Trademark, Copyright and Advertising Group, was interviewed by TechCrunch on Sora's apparent training on game content, OpenAI's new video generating tool. Early Sora adopters are suspecting that the technology is trained on Twitch streams and video game walkthroughs, which can cause legal problems for OpenAI. Evan said that "videos of playthroughs involve at least two layers of copyright protection: the contents of the game as owned by the game developer, and the unique video created by the player or videographer capturing the player’s experience." He added that "for some games, there’s a potential third layer of rights in the form of user-generated content appearing in software."
