Xcel Energy’s wind energy projects to benefit customers and the environment
The border winds and pleasant valley projects add 350 megawatts of new wind energy to Xcel Energy’s electricity generation portfolio.
We helped Xcel Energy, a major U.S. electricity and natural gas company with operations in eight Western and Midwestern states, acquire significant new wind projects in Rolette County, North Dakota, and Mower and Dodge Counties, Minnesota. These acquisitions were structured as innovative build-transfer arrangements under which the developer took the risks of development, construction and commissioning. The projects are expected to reduce customer costs and carbon dioxide emissions.
