Overview

Richard helps clients attain solid patent protection for life sciences and chemical technologies. His preparation and prosecution experience includes therapeutics, diagnostics, drug delivery, medical devices, and biomaterials.
Richard’s years of technology commercialization experience has given him a deep understanding of the various collaborative arrangements under which life sciences technologies are often developed, including licenses, joint research agreements and sponsorship agreements. Richard helps clients to navigate the complexities of these relationships while building valuable patent portfolios.

Experience

Richard has prepared, prosecuted and analyzed patent applications relating to small molecule drugs, gene-based and other biological therapeutics, diagnostics, drug delivery systems, medical devices and biomaterials. He also has significant experience with industrial technologies including specialty chemicals, packaging materials and biofuels. He also counsels clients regarding patentability, freedom-to-operate, patent infringement, and IP strategy.
