Overview
Grant combines over 30 years of patent prosecution experience with extensive intellectual property litigation and trial experience. Twice in a decade, Grant was part of a trial team that defended patents he helped clients obtain. In both instances, juries found the patents were valid and willfully infringed, resulting in enhanced jury awards. Both of these decisions (along with related USPTO proceedings), were upheld on every issue at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. The outcome of one of those cases represents the largest patent infringement damages award to date in Utah.
Grant is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and has handled numerous cases before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board and Interferences, and the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. He is also AAA Mediation Trained and mediates IP-focused cases. He serves as a neutral panel member of Utah ADR Services.
