Dorsey Partner Fernando Avelar has been elected to membership in the Fellows of the Texas Bar Foundation. Fellows of the Foundation are selected for their outstanding professional achievements and their demonstrated commitment to the improvement of the justice system throughout Texas. This election is a mark of distinction and recognition of Fernando’s contributions to the legal profession.

Selection as a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation is restricted to members of the Texas bar. Each year one-third of one percent of Texas attorneys are invited to become Fellows. Once nominees are selected, they must be elected by the Texas Bar Foundation Board of Trustees. Membership has grown from an initial 255 Charter Members in 1965 to more than 10,000 Fellows throughout Texas today.

“Fernando’s leadership in the legal community is widely respected, and his election as a fellow reflects his deep knowledge and dedication to the profession,” said Dallas Office Head Rob Hale. “His insights will play a key role in shaping future concepts.”

Fernando specializes in mergers and acquisitions, venture capital and private equity transactions. He advises clients across various industries, including financial services, technology, and healthcare, helping them navigate complex transactions and regulatory matters. With a strong background in securities law and cross-border deals, Fernando provides strategic guidance to businesses looking to grow and succeed.
