International law firm Dorsey & Whitney LLP is pleased to announce that it has named Corporate Partner Lawrence Ward as head of the Firm’s Seattle office effective August 28, 2020.
Mr. Ward will replace Seattle Office Head and Intellectual Property Partner Jennifer Spaith. “Dorsey’s Seattle Office is populated by a talented group of attorneys and staff that have transitioned seamlessly to a remote workforce during these peculiar times. I know Larry will do a great job continuing to ensure that we are providing best-in-class legal advice and excellent service to our valued clients,” said Spaith.
Mr. Ward’s practice focuses on U.S. national security law and he assists clients on export controls and economic sanctions matters and on navigating the process with the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS). Mr. Ward helps government contractors, aerospace and defense, mining, technology, manufacturing, retail, service, hospitality, biotech and other companies involved in international trade understand and comply with various complicated U.S. regulatory schemes in a cost-effective manner so that they can avoid the monetary, criminal and other penalties and reputational damage faced when those regulations are violated. He advises clients ranging from small emerging companies to large public corporations and international professional associations. As a former appointed member of the U.S. State Department’s Defense Trade Advisory Group (DTAG), Mr. Ward has built important connections with U.S. Government and industry leaders, which further bolsters his ability to provide practical compliance insight to his clients.
“Larry is a terrific choice to head up our Seattle office,” noted Dorsey Managing Partner Bill Stoeri. “He is a very talented lawyer who has the aptitude, commitment and demeanor to effectively lead the office and continue to strengthen our ties in the Seattle community.”
