International law firm Dorsey & Whitney LLP is pleased to announce that New York-based Corporate Partner Catherine Pan has been named to the Firm’s Management Committee. As the executive body of the Firm, the seven-member committee advises and assists the Managing Partner in the administration of the Firm.
Ms. Pan is the Corporate Group Head in the Firm’s New York offices and a Co-Chair of Dorsey’s globally recognized U.S.-China Practice Group. She is a 2004 graduate of Harvard Law School and also holds law degrees from China and Sweden.
Ms. Pan is a widely respected corporate attorney focused on cross-border transactions. She leads strategic corporate transactions that include mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, equity and debt financings, and other cross-border corporate transactions. In addition to her transactional experience, Ms. Pan also oversees risk management, dispute resolution and investigation matters for corporate clients and their officers and directors. She acts as chief outside counsel to several global corporations and financial institutions.
The new Management Committee position will focus on strategic business growth with an emphasis on cross-border matters for U.S. and international clients. Devoting management resources to international pursuits is just one way in which Dorsey is dedicated to helping clients succeed in global business. Ms. Pan has been integral in initiatives ranging from U.S. on-the-ground training programs for the Firm’s Asian offices’ lawyers to internal structures designed to prepare a wide range of practice groups, departments and all Dorsey offices for international practice. She looks forward to further marshalling the Firm’s extensive resources, and building on those resources, to serve the Firm’s international client base as well as U.S. clients with international business relationships.
“Catherine is a highly successful cross-border and international business lawyer with a strategic approach to the business of law,” said Dorsey Managing Partner Bill Stoeri. “Dorsey just completed its most successful year as a firm, and we see the opportunities in the international arena as an engine for continued growth and strong performance. Catherine will be an excellent addition to our management team.”
The Firm has recently made a series of strategic hires expanding its international focus across the Firm’s platform. These include the addition of capital markets Partner David Cameron in Hong Kong, international trade Counsel David Townsend in Washington, D.C. and Minneapolis, international IP attorney Yue Matthew Ma, Ph.D., in Seattle, and compliance and dispute resolution attorney Yan (Bill) Huang in Beijing. These new lateral hires allow Dorsey to continue building an international practice that provides high-level, high-value legal services to its clients globally.
“It is an honor to have been chosen by our Managing Partner Bill Stoeri to be a member of the Management Committee,” noted Ms. Pan. “Bill has an extraordinary vision for our growth strategy, and we are completely aligned as to our commitment to listening, understanding, responding, predicting and serving the legal needs of our clients, domestic and international. As a member of the Management Committee I will strive to continue Dorsey’s tradition of excellence and service to our clients and our communities around the globe.”
