International law firm Dorsey & Whitney LLP is pleased to announce it has added another benefit to support our working mothers: reimbursement for shipping breast milk.
“We are pleased to add reimbursement for breast milk shipping as yet another benefit we provide to working mothers,” said Joan Oyaas, Director of Diversity & Inclusion and Lawyer Development. “We offer many benefits to support working parents at Dorsey, including generous paid parental leave for attorneys and staff; flexible work arrangements for attorneys; emergency child care back-up service and emergency dependent care reimbursement program; adoption assistance plan, comprehensive medical, dental and vision insurance (including benefits for domestic partners), and pre-tax reimbursement accounts for health care and dependent care.”
Dorsey has received external recognition for being an employer that is supportive of women and parents including being named a Best Law Firm for Women by Working Mother magazine, an Adoption-Friendly Workplace by the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, and the Gold Standard Certification from the Women in Law Empowerment Forum.
Under the new policy, all attorney and staff mothers who need to travel for work can receive reimbursement for the shipping or transport of breast milk during their business trips. Moms may choose the service they prefer (such as Milk Stork or another similar service) to have refrigerated, express shipping or tote breast milk home to their baby.
“I am proud to work at a law firm that is truly supportive of working parents, and the addition of reimbursement for breast milk shipping is just another example of how Dorsey has invested in the success of mothers,” said Partner Betsy Sanders Parker, leader of the Women Attorneys with Children affinity group in Minneapolis.
The new policy is effective April 2, 2019, and applies to all attorney and staff mothers.
