International law firm Dorsey & Whitney LLP announced today that it represented Briefing Media Ltd., the world’s leading agribusiness media and information company, in its significant strategic investment and partnership with Urner Barry Publications Inc. announced on October 2, 2017.
London-based Briefing Media’s trusted brands deliver premium news, analysis, data, pricing, insight and intelligence to over 500,000 professionals working across this vast and dynamic sector of the global economy. Briefing Media is a portfolio company of U.K.-based mid-market private equity firm Lyceum Capital.
New Jersey-based Urner Barry is a 160-year old business information and price-reporting agency specializing in the protein markets. Their market leading digital service COMTELL provides price quotes, news and analysis for the red meat, poultry, egg and seafood markets.
The Briefing Media/Urner Barry transaction forms a trans-Atlantic alliance between two very complementary businesses. The combination of Briefing Media’s agribusiness analyst, sales and marketing operations across Europe with Urner Barry’s similar strength in the Americas creates a powerful global platform for the combined business. Terms of the partnership were not disclosed publicly.
A team of Dorsey private equity lawyers led by New York Partner Eric Rytter and London Special Counsel Carsten Greve represented Briefing Media along with specialists in corporate and securities, finance, benefits, technology commerce, tax, environmental, regulatory, employment, real estate and intellectual property from Dorsey’s offices in London, Minneapolis, New York, Palo Alto and Seattle.
“Eric Rytter and his team were great and showcased an understanding of how to handle deal issues that arise on both sides of the pond – a genuine trans-Atlantic service that was vital in order to get the deal over the line,” noted Rupert Levy, CFO of Briefing Media.
