Dorsey Partner Margot Laporte recently commented on the trial of a former coal executive who is requesting his trial be postponed due to Trump's new FCPA directive. Margot pointed out that this is "a foreseeable and natural result” of Trump’s new executive order. She added, "I expect that this Executive Order will lead to similar motions to continue any FCPA matters with pending trial dates and other pretrial deadlines, and that it has -- and will continue to -- lead to ongoing engagement between FCPA defence counsel and the DOJ seeking clarity regarding enforcement priorities and past and ongoing FCPA enforcement matters, including those currently under DPA or NPA."
