Partner Nicole Engisch was interviewed on the Bloomberg Law Podcast by host June Grasso to discuss the DOJ's new whistleblower program. The new program is meant to "fill in the gaps" of existing whistleblower programs with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, and the False Claims Act. "By the end of the year, [the DOJ] will be implementing a program that should be rewarding whistleblowers who alert prosecutors to significant corporate misconduct," said Nicole.
The new whistleblower program is meant "to go hand-in-glove with the existing corporate criminal enforcement policies to encourage and foster a climate of compliance." she commented. While details of the program are still forthcoming, Nicole stated that the new program is "going to be much broader because the mission of the DOJ is much broader."
