The collapse of the US housing market and the tightening of US credit (as a result of the subprime mortgage crisis) have caused a global economic slowdown. Global losses due to the subprime credit crunch have been estimated at over one trillion dollars. The subprime crisis continues to impact a wide variety of legal practice areas - litigation, securities, bankruptcy, structured finance, real estate, and more.
